Destination Description

Dive in the Caribbean of Costa Rica must included Cahuita’s coral reef where you will find over 35 species of coral, more 300 different types of mollusks, lobsters, 3 species of turtles and thousand of colorful fish like French Angel, Isabelita and Queen Angel. The reef extens 500 meters out to the sea from Cahuita Point and is great for snorkeling. The blue-green waters that seen to more to the rhythm of the coconut tree mixed with warm tropical sunshine, will definitely remind you what beings in the Caribbean is like. Visibility varies with season and location through out Costa Rica. Generally heavy rainfall tends to swell the rivers and make the water muddy, even offshore, although there’s still good diving in Manzanillo, down the Panamanian border. The best snorkeling experience in Costa Rica is on the reefs of Manzanillo beach in the southern Caribbean coast, particularly in the calm months like September and October. Playa Negra (Black Beach) is 2.7 miles of black sand and that extends from Cahuita to the out let of Tuba River.
